We’re always looking for ways to improve the experience of using our interactive displays, ensuring they remain up to date and offer the best possible functionality.
In recent years, as Android technology has advanced, we’ve been able to integrate the official Google Play Store into our latest models. This provides access to a much wider selection of apps, directly from Google’s trusted platform. As a result, our original app store—introduced to offer app access before Play Store compatibility—became less necessary over time.
Another key challenge has been that many newer apps are designed for the latest versions of Android, meaning they are often incompatible with older screens. This has made it increasingly difficult to maintain a fully functional app store across different generations of devices.
To keep our software streamlined and focused on the latest technology, we made the decision to discontinue the legacy app store in a recent firmware update. This allows us to optimise performance, security, and access to the latest applications available through the Play Store.
However, we understand that some users still require access to curated apps that work on older versions of Android. That’s why, on Android 8 and above, we’ve introduced the CleverLive Store—a free-to-use app store featuring a selection of education and business apps designed specifically to work on older Android versions.
That said, we are now seeing some developers withdraw support for legacy Android versions, which unfortunately affects the availability of certain apps. As a result, we will be removing a number of apps from the CleverLive Store that are no longer compatible. In due course, we will publish a list of the affected apps for your reference.
We appreciate that some users may have relied on the previous app store, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you need help finding alternative applications, our support team is on hand to assist, or please see the attached PDF
